Concentration

The central idea behind my concentration is to experiment with lighting techniques and effects to produce different moods, tones, and emotions in each photograph. I used a combination of lighting patterns and my own photographs, projected onto same model for the entire portfolio, in order to maintain a consistent visual style, while incorporating a variety of textures, tones, colors, and styles into my work.

My concentration began with simply lit and presented subjects in images 1 and 2, focused on technical precision, but transitioned in images 3 and 4 to a more colorful, experimental style. Inspired by the fan’s patterns in image 4 in conjunction with the flowers in image 3, I shifted towards a more graphic pattern based style to show environment and context of the experience. I created these styles by projecting my own photography and digital art onto the model. Images 5-7 contained more organic styles, transitioning to image 8’s inorganic, city based pattern. Image 8 also serves as a bridge between the color tones, shifting from warm to cool in images 9-11. Image 12 combines the colors of the entire series, representing the culmination of my subject’s experiences into a strong, dynamic identity.
